90210 Becomes Highest Scripted Debut in CW’s History

Tuesday’s two-hour premiere of 90210 was seen by 4.9 million viewers, earning a 2.6 rating among adults 18-40. That surpasses the CW’s previous scripted record holder in the adult demo, Smallville (2.2), by 18%.  90210’s number also tie the network’s premiere record set by America’s Next Top Model. The CW enjoyed a rare full-night victory, winning the evening in the adult demographic. Among women 18-34, 90210 became the CW’s highest-rated scripted telecast ever (4.3/12).

Though critics didn’t have high hopes for the show after CW refused to offer screener copies of the show, most gave it a generally favorable review.  To find out just what they are saying, check this link.

In case you missed it the first time, the CW will air an encore of the two-hour 90210 premiere on Thursday, September 4.
