TBS Presents Four Star-Studded Comedy Specials

Straight from The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, TBS brings you four specials loaded with big name comedy stars.  Here’s what’s coming up this weekend:

Taped at THE COMEDY FESTIVAL, the show will feature performers hand-picked by Ellen DeGeneres from several countries, including Spain, Russia and Germany.  The unique performers and acts, many never before seen on American television, include award-winning magic sensation Hans Klok, celebrity impressionists, dancers, musical acts, comedy skits, to name just a few.

FRANKtv_Frank Caliendo 5 PH Mark Hill FUNNIEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR: 2008 – Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)

The year’s best comedy movies will take center stage in an all new special hosted by comedian and master impressionist Frank Caliendo (Frank TV, Fox NFL Sunday).  This one-hour collection of hilarious movie scenes from the past year will climax with the announcement of the film online fans have chosen as the year’s funniest.  Throughout the show, Caliendo will infuse his famous impressions into introductions of the films.  This special is being taped at Caesars Palace and Rio in Las Vegas during the week of THE COMEDY FESTIVAL. 

Tommy Chong and Cheech Marin CHEECH & CHONG ROASTED – Sunday, Nov. 30, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)

Cheech & Chong, the stoner pair who dominated the comedy scene in the 1970s and ’80s and recently reunited for their Light Up America tour, will take their place in THE COMEDY FESTIVAL hot seat to be roasted by close friends and fellow comedians in TBS’s one-hour comedy event CHEECH & CHONG ROASTED.  Emmy®-winning comic actor Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond, ‘Til Death) will host the festivities, which are set to feature scorchingly funny testimonials from such scheduled roasters as comedian Tom Arnold, television journalist Geraldo Rivera, comic magicians Penn & Teller and That ‘70s Show’s Wilmer Valderrama, comedian Greg Giraldo, The Rev. Al Sharpton and Tommy Chong’s wife, actress Shelby Chong, with special appearances by actor Steve Carell and comedian Andy Dick.

LAFFAPALOOZA! Hosted by Tracy Morgan – Sunday, Nov. 30, at 11:30 p.m.

Top comedians Mark Curry, Sheryl Underwood, Earthquake, Corey Holcomb and Lavell Crawford are set to join host Tracy Morgan for this comedy show taped as part of the star-studded weekend line-up at THE COMEDY FESTIVAL.  Since its Atlanta debut more than 15 years ago, this showcase has been a launching pad for up-and-coming comedians.  Nick Cannon and Mike Epps are among dozens of performers who came into prominence on the LAFFAPALOOZA! stage.  This marks the first year that LAFFAPALOOZA! is part of THE COMEDY FESTIVAL and the first time it is being taped for TBS.
