‘The Closer’ Spin-off in the Works

closer The Closer’s creator/executive producer James Duff is working on a spin-off of the police drama which stars Kyra Sedgwick. TNT has ordered a script for the spinoff, which Duff  will co-write with co-executive producer Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem.

The working title of the project is The Fixer but there is no word on whether the show will revolve around an existing character or be set around someone new.

The Closer has been a very successful series for TNT, setting cable records with its debut in 2005. Sedgwick has been nominated for several awards and won a Golden Globe for her role as deputy chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the show. She is up for an Emmy at this month’s awards, which will take place on September 21.
