The WB.com Officially Launches August 27
In case you haven’t heard, the defunct television network The WB, which merged it’s television network with UPN two years ago to form The CW, is coming back. Well, sort of. They are officially launching their new web network, which has been available in beta, on August 27.
The ad-supported TheWB.com will stream favorites like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends, The O.C., Gilmore Girls, Firefly, Babylon 5, Angel, Roswell and others. They will also be airing several new web series, two of which will be available as they launch. Blue Water High is about six Australian teens at a surf academy, and A Boy Wearing Makeup is a video diary of a boy who gives beauty and fashion advice.
More original series are coming as well. McG, executive producer of shows like Chuck, Supernatural and The O.C., will premiere his web series, Sorority Girls on September 8. Josh Schwartz, creator of Chuck and The OC, will be creating a music show revolving around a Hollywood rock club and Laguna Beach creator Gary Auerbach is producing Rich Girl, Poor Girl for the site.
